ONE-TIME INTRODUCTORY CLASSES

“Wait… there are one-time pottery classes near me?
Yep. You found us.

Whether you’re trying one new activity each month, looking to impress your colleagues with an awesome team-building activity, or you’re scarred from your 24-month gym membership and want to test the waters before making a commitment - you’re in the right place.

Our one-time adult wheel classes are 90 minutes long. This is a great way for individuals and groups to learn the basics of pottery while also getting a feel for the wheel in a casual, relaxed environment.

You can choose to keep your finished piece(s) from this class for a fee of $15 per piece, however, due to the drying, firing, and glazing process, your piece will be finished by our staff and available for pickup 4 weeks after your course. We do not notify you when your piece is finished, and we will hold your piece for 4 months after your class before donating it.

All tools are included for this course.

Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before the start of your class for a full refund. 24 hours is required to reschedule.

We ask that you please arrive 5 minutes early.

CHILDREN’S COURSES

Meet The Hoboken Team

  • Blue Skies Pottery instructor, Anthea Brown, sitting at the pottery wheel looking towards the camera.

    Anthea Brown

    Instructor

Anthea (aka ASBfromJerz) is a potter, painter, and poet based at the Jersey Shore. She started playing in clay at the age of 15, and is a Cum Laude graduate of Monmouth University with a BA in Art, having recently earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College. If she's not on the wheel, you can find her on stages in NYC and NJ performing her poetry. When people talk about ‘go with the flow’ they’re talking about Anthea. She is the flow. Or the go. IYKYK.

  • Blue Skies Pottery instructor, Radwa Elalfy, posing with her handmade pottery looking at the camera.

    Radwa Elalfy

    Instructor

Radwa is our first and only handbuilding instructor, so you could say she’s the unicorn of the studio. She has been practicing pottery for 6 1/2 years, and after majoring in ceramics at NJCU, she was featured in the BFA Show. She mainly focuses on tiles for her personal work, and she takes inspiration from her Egyptian heritage for many of her pieces. If you find yourself looking around the studio saying “Who did that?!” it’s usually Radwa.

  • Blue Skies Pottery instructor, Myagmarsuren Enkhbayar, posing in front of a painting.

    Myagmarsuren Enkhbayar

    Instructor

Myagmarsuren is a Blue Skies DAY ONE. She was the first instructor to join our team and continues teaching several of our courses including our Intermediate/ Advanced classes. One time she showed up to an open studio and very quickly realized why doctors don’t give patients their personal phone numbers. She has been practicing ceramics since she was a kid and currently teaches at several studios from Brooklyn to Hoboken.

  • Blue Skies Pottery instructor, Tim Hsieh, smiling at the camera.

    Tim Hsieh

    Instructor

The first thing you should know about Tim is that he’s really cool. Tim has been practicing pottery for 18 years and only recently started teaching this past year with us at Blue Skies. He started ceramics to fill class requirements to graduate on time and fell in love with the meditative nature of wheel throwing and being able to manipulate nature. Conversations with Tim may cover epic Lego builds, custom glaze mixing or fun EDM shows. Like I said, he’s really cool.

  • Blue Skies Pottery instructor, Judy Park, smiling while looking down at her pottery.

    Judy Park

    Instructor

Born in Seoul and raised in Atlanta, GA, Judy started ceramics over 15 years ago in high school when looking to find a creative outlet. She joined us at Blue Skies in October as a studio tech and now teaches several of our multi-week courses and intro classes. Between her one-of-a-kind mushroom pieces and reverse time clocks (TIME IS A CONSTRUCT ANYWAY), you don’t even need to read the signature to know a Judy piece. Beyond her classes, Judy also offers workshops such as plaster mold making.

  • Blue Skies Pottery instructor, Sue Riegelmann, smiling in front of the studio's mural.

    Sue Riegelmann

    Instructor

Sue started pottery in 1997, while she was working in finance at the New York Times. She walked past what was then Mud, Sweat, and Tears in Hell's Kitchen, and the rest, as they say, was history. She has been teaching ceramics for 15 years and joined us at Blue Skies last Spring. Want to know the best thing about Sue? Everything. She friggin rocks and if you take her class, you will too. Sue teaches our Friday intro classes and also fills in for many of our multi-week courses.

  • Blue Skies Pottery employee Brooke Thibodeau smiling in front of the studio's mural.

    Brooke Thibodeau

    Studio Technician & Instructor

Brooke was born and raised in North Carolina and moved to Hoboken last Fall. She’s been with us since March and currently doubles as an outstanding Studio Tech and an instructor for our children’s courses. Brooke first started learning about pottery when she was 10 years old from her Grammy, who made and sold her own ceramics under the amazing signature ‘Slab Happy’. When we asked Brooke for a fun fact about herself, she let us know she can juggle! Sometimes... We kindly requested she practice away from the pottery.

  • Blue Skies Pottery instructor Alexandra Vo smiling in front of the studio's mural.

    Alexandra Vo

    Instructor

Alex has been with us since September 2022. She began practicing pottery in 2015 when she was the same age as many of her current students, and after joining our studio as a studio tech she quickly began teaching once it was clear that the self-proclaimed introvert couldn’t help but extrovert. You can find her teaching several of our children’s classes with a devoted group of kids, leading most of our birthday parties, and hanging around the studio preaching about corn dogs. When she’s on the wheel, her favorite things to make are windchimes and bowls, and her forever muse is her sweet cat, Meriwether.
